“WE HAVE TO GO NOW!”

“WHAT THE HELL?! WHY?!”

“YOUR HOUSE IS ON FIRE.”

“COUGH COUGH COUGH–”

“C’mon get up! We have to go now!”

The smoke rose higher and higher until I couldn’t breathe. 

Gabe pulled me up, and we ran.

 

Hibiscus Cafe, 5:45 am, 5 days before the bombing. Kelly

 

I walked into the cafe, Tiered, in need of CAFFEINE. I got into my uniform, astonished that Gabe was already waiting for me. “Hey, Gabe!” Gabe looked at me emotionless, then with a soft smile.

“Hey…” Gabe threw me a dirty look.

“WHAT ARE YOU STARING AT?!” I shook my head.

“OOPS… I kinda just spaced out for a moment there,” he snickered.

Our boss Joe walked in, with his hairy hands on his hips, “Get brewing kiddos! It’s almost opening time!” I nodded.

We started to brew coffee, and our first customer came in.  I smiled. It was Ms. Jonson, from the apartment across the street. “Hello, Kiddos!” I waved while Gabe just sat there, emotionless. Depressed. 

He started to cry for a moment. “Are you alright?” 

“The usual?” said Gabe. She nodded, sat at a table, and started to work. 

 

We brewed the coffee slowly, and the day was slower. I felt slower in my work as well, and I felt like something was up, but I didn’t exactly know what…
