Sometimes, funding isn’t always accessible in times when you need it most. That’s why one year ago, middle school students and teachers came together to raise money for those things by playing basketball. These students raised $4,000 that year. By paying $10 each to play, $5 to watch, these kids made a phenomenal amount on money for the kids who need it to fund Chromebooks, school trips, etc.
As people of the North Shore community, we are very privileged. We have a large school, ample funds to support our school and families (God-willing), and a large community we can trust. But it’s not like that everywhere.
Now more than ever before, more and more people are struggling financially to support their families. Many families, even in our very area, are struggling with this as well.
At North Shore Middle School, our school is not just a school. We are a family, a community, and even a home. So with Vikings Helping Vikings, we put that into action.
Vikings Helping Vikings is a teacher led organization with the mission of allowing kids with these struggles to afford the same opportunities that their peers and classmates have. No student should be denied a wonderful opportunity because of what has happened outside of school, according to the official VHV website.
The organization is hosting their second annual basketball tournament in honor of their mission on Friday, February 28th, 2025 in the High School gymnasium.
